yet, there's a little rainy as we got into work this morning. >> may want to have the umbrella handy. also lynette this morning you're monitoring the weather and still feels kind of sticky and muggy out there. >> yes, on the sticky side charlie and also some fog out there this morning but some patchy fog. visibility reduced once again. 7 miles in easton. and baltimore to the north end york only about four miles of reduced visibility there. and also you were talking about the showers, we have a shower now in frederick county around emmettsburg and we can go ahead and zoom in on that area and you can see where it is. this is sliding up to the north but this is the only thing we're seeing as of now. maybe just little bit of misting out there but all in all we are going to taper things down throughout the day in terms of the wet weather. in terms of temperatures right now we are warm once again. baltimore at 70 and aberdeen at 69-degrees this morning. and this is what we looked like

through the hour by hour. we can see you're waking up to some patchy fog this morning it is going to be a mild day. and then we will warm things up by lunchtime coming in at 80 degrees and also we'll get some sunshine in here before it's all said and done. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. good morning. as you mentioned we have a little bit of patchy fog and you want to expect reduced visibility out on the roads. turn on the low beams. if you are using the jfx to get into the city there are no delays right now from the beltway all the way downtown to east fayette street. everything will remain up to speed traveling through the fort mchenry tunnel. as well as the harbor tunnel. and as we check in and take a live look outside here on the west side of the beltway. no problems to report from liberty road all the way down to route 40 and here's how it's shaping up in parkville at harford road. no problems on the inner loop down to 95 and the outer loop nice and clear up to towson. uuu. we begin this morning with breaking news from overnight. in east baltimore police are investigating a shooting involving one of their own. it happened around 12:30 near

the 1500 block of east land bell street. that's near oliver neighborhood a few blocks east of the green mount cemetery. on the twitter feed the baltimore police say the person that was shot was taken to the hospital and the officer wasn't injured. once we have details we'll bring them to you here on "good morning maryland." that police shooting comes less than 48 hours after an autopsy revealed that a man from east baltimore died from injuries suffered while in police custody. this morning the officers involved in the case have been identified. they are detectives greg boyd, michael vodarick and todd strohman. all three are members of the violent crime impact section and are currently right now on administrative leave pending the investigation. anthony anderson died two weeks ago and it happened in east baltimore. police initially said he was trying to swallow drugs when he died. but the autopsy report said the 42-year-old died from blunt

force trauma. the death was ruled a homicide earlier this week by the medical examiner. a deadly meningitis outbreak is plaguing a handful of states across the u.s. including here in maryland. this morning abc2 news linda so is live in federal hill with more on the details of this and linda, what are we learning this morning? >> reporter: so far, there have been two reported cases in maryland. one of them deadly. the outbreak sickened 26 people in five states across the country. it appears the rare form of meningitis came from contaminated steroid injections given for back pain. it's a viral strain that's not contagious. the people who got it here in maryland were exposed between late july and late september. we've learned six facilities in the state unknowingly gave the contaminated spinal shots. they include medical centers in edgewood abingdon and bel air and maryland.

the patients can get really sick so health officials want you to look out for meningitis symptoms like fever, headache, a stiff neck, nausea or vomiting. the massachusetts pharmaceutical company that manufactured the product has issued a voluntary rule. we're live in federal hill, linda so, abc2 news. news time now 4:35. and a bit later today the orioles will be waking up deep in the heart of texas. the disappointing loss to the tampa bay rays forced the o's to hit the road for friday night's wild card game and abc2 news kristin share has more on a frustrating finale from tropicana field. >> reporter: why start doing things easy now? instead of winning and playing the wild card playoff game at camden yards, they lost here in st. pete and now on the road in texas the take on the two time defending american league champion texas rangers. just too much evan longoria for the orioles tonight. three home runs tonight.

what a ballplayer. the orioles did manage to get one run across in the 9th but not enough to come all the way back. they lose the final game of the regular season to the tampa bay rays 4-1 and now travel to texas to take on the texas rangers friday night. texas will start their rookie pitcher yu darvish. he was deciding between saunders and johnson the orioles' rookie. we could find out more about that today. christian schaffer. abc2 news. field just like us. people who can be hit with tragedy at any moment and this moment we are getting a stark reminder of just that. you see this week we saw triumph and then heart break for pat knee sack moments after the a's clinched is postseason berth he was on afflict from oakland to florida to see his wife give birth to the couple's first child. a baby boy named derrick. things only got better for knee sack. but that is when heartbreak happened. you see late last night path posted on -- pat posted on the twitter account that suddenly unexpectedly the couple's newborn son died with no explanation less than 24 hours after he was born. send your thoughts and prayers this morning their way to your children. a few weeks before the largest fundraising event, komen maryland admits it's hurting, donations are off 50%. the ceo says the organization has been calling past donors to

thank you for joining us this thursday morning. the first one. it is in the books and this morning, you're going to hear the campaigns for both president obama and the gop presidential candidate mitt romney. they put their spin on last night's debate and abc2 news tory dunnan is in denver this morning with the memorable five minutes that happened. >> reporter: the first question in the debate went out to president obama. it was on jobs and specifically the difference between these two candidates and how they can create jobs.

but throughout the entire debate both candidates were focusing in on the middle class. [ applause ] nice debate focused on domestic policy issues. a line was drawn with president obama and mitt romney on the economy. >> are we going to double down on the topdown economic policies that helped to get us into this mess or do we embrace a new economic patriotism that says america does best when the middle class does best? >> under the president's policies middle income americans haveburied. they have been crushed. middle income americans have seen their income come down by $4,300. this is a tax in and of itself. >> reporter: on health care -- >> i don't know how the president could have come into office, facing 23 million people out of work, rising unemployment, an economic crisis at the kitchen table, and spent his energy and passion for two years fighting for obamacare instead of fighting for jobs for the american people. >> reporter: in the role of government -- >> the federal government has

the capacity to help open up opportunitand create ladders of opportunity and to create ameworks where the american people can succeed. >> reporter: the 90 minute debate moderated by jim layer was the first opportunity for the candidates to go head-to- head. at times it was heated. >> solyndra and tester and inner one. i had a friend who said you don't just pick the winners and losers, he picks losers. >> for 18 months he's been running on the tax plan and now five weeks before the election he's saying the big bold idea is never mind. >> reporter: there was this memorable moment. >> 20 years ago i became the luckiest man on earth because michelle obama agreed the marry me. >> i'm sure this was the most romantic place you could imagine here with me. >> reporter: despite that one moment, the candidates didn't seem to agree much and really pushed each other on their policies and proposals that were talked about during this debate. for what happens next? of course both campaigns will try to spin this and declare a victory of sorts, the surrogates are out and about

and talking to members of the media. of course we're going to have to wait and see what the voters think. in denver, colorado, i'm tory dunnan, back to you. >> neither candidate is wasting any time after last night's debate. today they're both getting back out on the campaign trail this afternoon. president obama will speak at an event in denver before heading to columbus, ohio for another event that happens tonight. meanwhile mitt romney is going to be joining his running mate republican vice presidential candidate paul ryan. that's happening at a rally in fisherville, virginia. 4:45 right now. taking a look at the events in our area this thursday. tonight, a prayer vigil will be held honoring those who were killed by the dc snipers. it's going to take place at the goshen united methodist church in gaithersburg. this month marks the tenth anniversary of the deadly attacks that brought terror to the region for nearly a month. m&t bank stadium will be buzzing today but not because of a ravens game. instead hundreds of veterans

and military spouses are expected to fill the stadium for the hire our heroes expo. the goal is to get men and women who served our country get them back to work by connecting them with the fellow military friendly employers. it will take place today from 11:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon. once again it's going to be taking place at the m&t bank stadium. an exciting day for the ronald mcdonald house. every broom there is getting a new mattress donated by tempur- pedic. baltimore city firefighters are going to be helping out and removing the 72 old mattresses and replacing them with new ones. the charity organization provides a home away if home for families needing to be near chair sick children and it runs mostly on donations with the help of volunteers. all right, lynette is up here checking the weather right now. feels more like august than october and lauren you are watching the roads. >> yes, we are dealing with a little bit of patchy fog this morning. so definitely watch out for that. not quite as bad as yesterday. >> exactly. >> that's -- a little bit of good news. >> right, but we have the fog out there and also, just one

lone shower in frederick county as of now. but we could see some scattered showers as we go throughout the day. what's going on and the reason why? we're looking at the satellite and radar still have lots of clouds and some of them looking at the surface and that's where that patchy fog comes in. scattered to spotty showers into virginia and surging up into pennsylvania. we'll get in on the action through the morning. and possibly even into the afternoon. but, weare going to see some sunshine in here just like we saw yesterday. actually we'll get more sunshine than we saw yesterday. but once again, we are still dealing with this system. this is the one from days ago. came from south moving to the north that warm front moved through yesterday. now we're waiting for the cold front to move through. this will do so as we go through the remainder of today on the backside of that high pressure will build in briefly. and then we'll start to see another cold front move in just in time for the weekend and that's going to drop temperatures down into the 50s. we are going to feel it and it's going to be feeling more

like fall/winter. a raw day. that's in just a moment. but this is what we're working with right now. temperature in frederick at 64 degrees and we are warm. we are muggy this morning. 64 in woodbine. mount airy coming in at 71 and we can see the humidity 100%. 100%. that means that we are saturated out there. and that's why you're getting the fog. so for today i'm going with 82 degrees. we will be partly cloudy with some scattered showers in the forecast. by tonight, 59. mostly clear as high pressure begins to build in. we will begin to get cooler without all the clouds out there. and then by tomorrow that temperature 80 degrees, mostly sunny and nice and we have one more day of the 80s and then things start to go downhill. the seven day forecast for you, showing you what's going on. so into saturday we'll start out of pretty good and get some sunshine in here but temperatures will go down cooler 59 degrees on sunday. let's get a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. patchy fog to talk about. good morning lynette. and thyme going to miss that 80- degree weather. i don't like 59 degrees, yes, we have patchy fog across the

your bill. the governor says the $1 to $2 per month would go upgrading the power line. 22 nonprosternation wills receive much-needed help this morning. brown will be at the visionary arts museum this morning making the announce. he will present $1.5 million to representatives from various organizations all part of the bicentennial grand program. domestic violence awareness month. to help bring awareness verizon is helping out several nonprofit agencies that are working to combat abuse against adults as well as teenagers. so this morning the company is going to join the guy you see right there, attorney general doug gansler to present $50,000 to help support education and prevention efforts. all right, looks like going brown is going green. u. p. s. will add 40 new hydraulic vehicles to its fleet. in other parts they're going to be seen in parts of atlanta. the company says the new hybrid

cars can get up to 35% improved fuel economy and lower carbon i commissions. they are supported by grants from the u.s. department of energy. today we are going to find out how clean the baltimore harbor is. the waterfront partnership and students from the school, they are going to come together to present the most recent healthy harbor report card. the major problems affecting the health of the harbor? trash, and bacteria and stormwater runoff. all right, it is 4:51. a very heartbroken grandfather in colorado this morning. >> why he's pleading to the person who stole a camera from his home. >> also the latest feature on facebook that could have you paying a fee to have your friends see more of you. we'll explain when "good morning maryland" continues.

out of orange county, florida. anthony claims it would be impossible for her to get a fair trial in the country. the nanny is suing anthony for defamation over lies that were told when caylee anthony disappeared. she was harassed and threatened after anthony came up with a fictitious nanny named zeh fica gonzalez fernandez. the grandfather of the youngest victim of the aurora theater shooting is now begging for the return of his camera with the photographs of his granddaughter. someone broke into robert sullivan's home and stole money and jewelry and four cameras. one of those cameras had the final photographs of veronica before she was killed. he wants to keep the pictures as a special tribute the family is now paying. baby lisa erwin vanished from her missouri home a year ago. they sang songs yesterday and they prayed for the missing toddler. lisa
